Using the calendar for team events

Hey all,
I am very interested in doing team events but I do not see any on our calendar. Is this something that we are going to start using? Does anyone else use a different calendar that works better than this website? Since I am so new to the game I wouldnt know what to suggest expect PVE and maybe leveling help ( questing, etc ).
